In the world where more and more people spend the biggest part of their free
time on internet, it is only logical that Internet marketing is slowly but
steadily becoming the most important and lucrative type of marketing. IT is the
same as with all other media, when newspapers started circulating, a printed
advertisement for a product was the name of the game, when radio and later TV
took over; they became the place to go if you wanted to advertise. Well, it’s
the same with Internet Marketing.
As was the case with all other types of marketing, Internet Marketing also has
some advantages and disadvantages that make it specific. The main of those will
be discussed here.
To start with the advantages. First of all, internet marketing is cheap. It is
insanely cheap, especially when you compare it with TV advertising or
advertising in some of the biggest newspapers in the world, or even more in
magazines. We have all heard the figures that are paid for a single second of
advertisement during Superbowl. Well, internet is cheap. At least for now. The
second important advantage is that you can target specific groups of people
with Internet Marketing.
If you are selling motorbike parts, you advertise on
biking sites, if you offer hunting equipment, you advertise on Republican
sites. Joking aside, it is a great thing to be able to target specific groups
of people who will most likely be your customers. Another advantage is that the
potential customer can almost immediately become an actual customer with a
click of a button. It is also very easy to keep track of the statistics
concerning your advertising strategies.
Disadvantages include people who do not use internet, people with low-band
connections and people who are looking to buy something that just cannot be
tried out via internet. All of these problems are more than likely to
disappear, excluding the last one.
